Carlos Sosa at Triathlon Sprint “Guia de Isora”
4th of September 2016 – Isora Beach – Tenerife
Our Carlos Sosa, Triathlete and explorer, told us about his last competition on Tenerife, where he closed with 1 position in Junior category and 8th in the general.
“At the southwest of Tenerife, on the beach of Isora, a beautiful and quiet district, in which local people live in armony with foreigner – as local residents say – connected by tourism and traditions, took place on the 4th of September, the second edition of Triathlon Sprint “Guia de Isora”
At 9:00 in the morning, in a calm beach surrounded by a small harbor and its breakwater, the swim segment started, with a 750mt tour fast enough where we counted on a pair of buoys to go around, enough far among each others, and this allowed me to lead the swim segment from the first buoy, but I lost direction and had to stop to find the second buoy, against the light of the sun, and finally found it in a different place from the one I supposed.
Arriving at first position at the T1, with approximately half a minute of advantage on the group of followers, I got ready to take my bycicle, with number 62, headed for the “Cronoescalada” an uphill time trial – with one leap circuit to climb and then to go down on the same way -, passing on a secondary road of 2 lanes, one going up and the other down, with a considerable slope, very technical and even dangerous for the presence of “Take the fear away” fence, and the winding and tight bends. After having left the town and started the ascent, 3 cyclists coming with strength, could reach me, one of them ran away, my coach who got up and walked with me, helping me each moment and other one little more in front of us, with whom we keep distance.
As the circuit was passing the escaping cyclist could get more distance from us, and other two could also reach us at the end of the strong ascent, while my trainer “Christian Martin” and I, we preferred to adopt a no demanding and constant rythme, in order to not arrive with excessive fatigue at the running competition.
Starting the descent in a 5th place, thanks to the very exigent circuit, technically speaking, I could remount positions to arrive at the T2 at second place, with a small margin to the previous runners. At the 5th Kms at 2 leaps of the foot segment, along the coast, combining avenues with sidewalk and road and some of them with little slope, I gave all that I could, trying taking, race after race, better emotions in this segment which is my weakest point and in which I am getting better without doubt.
Finally, exhausted, I crossed the finish line at 8th position of the general and first in the Junior. A very good trial, well organized, where we felt supported by a warm audience and from which I got out very happy for the progression and for the strong basis of training I am creating for the future.
This week I will run in the Canarian Championship of Aquathlon that will take place in La Candelaria, Tenerife, to end the Triathlon season and will start other short period of competitions, with the superfoods and the support of MoringaON, walking with me every time :)!”
