The 32nd edition of the Volcano Triathlon Lanzarote, an Olympic distance event (1.5 swim, 40k bike, 10k run) took place at Club La Santa on 30th April 2016. Almost 500 amateur and professional athletes came together in the traditionally wonderful atmosphere of Spain´s oldest triathlon, where Belgian´s Kenneth Vandendreissche and British Alice Héctor took the male and female victories respectively.
Carlos Sosa, MoringaOn Brand Ambassador, took part in this big event placing himself 38th in the male category, being the first of the Under 20.
The 32nd edition of the Volcano Triathlon, even if it’s valid for the Canary Series of Triathlon, has been an high value training event for our young Canarian Champion, Carlos.
This period is not the best of the season to make the Volcano in a very good health condition, because starting from now it will have a long term period without competitions and the aim is training to reach next courses being the strongest as possible. The Volcano has been an excellent opportunity to experience the competition, with more than 400 international triathletes, among whom professionals, in a no drafting circuit with strong wind.
Even if, at first glance, Carlos times weren’t so good, the fact that he attended the course as a workout, made them rather good. It was an hard competition. He swam with great effort up to the first buoy. He said he didn’t like his performance in the first part of the course. Maybe the point of land where he got out from the sea compromised his performance after the first buoy, in fact in 200 metres, he would have overtaken at least 30 people, and this guys can drive you crazy! Then, he was biking for 40km buffeted by wind blasts in a no drafting circuit.
He was finally enthusiastic for his running performance in which he kept a good rhythm despite having done an average workout during the week.
Carlos concluded his trial happy and ready for new challenges with the determination to achieve his goals.
Carlos reached the 38th place in the race, First of the Under 20
